Tropical Storm Nicole Update #2

Alachua County remains under a tropical storm warning with sustained winds reaching 30-50 mph, and gusts expected higher than 50 mph. With the high winds comes an increased risk of tornados. Rain bands will cross the area and could bring 2-3 inches of rainfall.

  • Alachua County has activated the 311 Emergency Information line for questions and rumor control. Neighbors can dial 311 or 352-264-6557.
  • The county has opened a special needs shelter. Details can be found through this link.

Facilities: City offices remain open tomorrow Thursday, Nov. 10, but closed for Veterans Day, Friday, Nov. 11.

Parks & Recreation: All city parks will close today beginning at 5 p.m. and remain closed tomorrow, Nov. 10.

Public Meetings: Visit the public meeting calendar on the city’s website for the current list of scheduled meetings.

Regional Transit System (RTS): Bus service is suspended tomorrow, Nov. 10. Holiday service resumes on Veterans Day. Visit for more information. 

Refuse Collection: Residential trash pickup for tomorrow, Nov. 10 has been suspended and rescheduled for Friday. Neighbors are asked to not set containers or items curbside tomorrow.
