Indigenous Peoples' Day Celebration
The City of Gainesville, the Indigenous Peoples’ Task Force and community partners invite all neighbors to upcoming events celebrating the vibrant culture, traditions and history of the first inhabitants of the land.
Indigenous Peoples’ Day Celebration
When: 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sat., Oct. 15
Where: City’s Morningside Nature Center, 3540 E. University Avenue
The event will include performances by dancers and drummers, and a living history of the Potano and Timucuan peoples.
- Please note the ceremonial leaders have asked that attendees not photograph nor record any video of the blessing of the land, and of the native language and song performance.
The events are free and open to the public, and support the City’s vision of equity, inclusion and access to diverse cultural and arts locations, facilities and programs of interest to all neighbors.
