Public safety officials continue to urge neighbors to remain off the roads as emergency responders work to help neighbors in need, restore power to homes and street lights, and clear debris from roadways.

  • Do not approach downed power lines or trees on wires. They should be treated as electrified. Contact GRU’s emergency line at 352-334-2871 or call 911.
  • Report downed trees, street signs and other storm damage at myGNV.org or on the myGNV app.
  • If you're using a portable generator, do so safely. Use generators outdoors and keep them at least 20 feet from windows, doors and garages. Do not connect a generator to a home electrical outlet or circuit breaker panel. Review the operations manual for additional safety information.
  • If you encounter any flooding in your area caused by Hurricane Helene, submit your photos on the Flood Reporter application. 

Updates

  • Refuse Collection: Yesterday’s residential trash and recycling pickup is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 28. 
  • Yard waste: Remember when cleaning up your yard, branches set out for collection can be no longer than 5 feet in length, no larger than 8 inches in diameter, and weigh no more than 40 pounds each. Additional guidelines are available online.
  • Regional Transit System (RTS): Fares are suspended for passengers as bus service operates on reduced service today, Sept.27. 
  • Parking: Parking restrictions remain lifted today, Sept. 27 for all parking zones.

Facilities

  • City offices remain closed today and are expected to reopen Monday.
  • Parks remain closed today. Please stay out of parks as crews assess damage and inspect trees for weakened limbs that could still fall.
