Commissioner Bryan Eastman is serving his first term on the Gainesville City Commission, with a term ending in 2027. Since taking office, he has focused on strengthening transportation, protecting local control, expanding affordable housing, supporting small businesses, protecting our environment, and promoting the arts.

A supporter of the arts, Bryan helped create the "Arts, Culture, and Entertainment" Districts to bring more street life and outdoor arts to Downtown and Grove Street. As an affordable housing advocate, he wrote the reformed zoning code to make it easier to build smaller, more affordable homes on smaller lots across Gainesville. He has also been a longtime champion of Gainesville’s local music scene and public art.

He is a dedicated advocate for multimodal transportation, working to improve bike routes, make streets more walkable, and expand public transit options.

Born in Tallahassee and a graduate of the University of Central Florida, Bryan worked in workforce development as the statewide program manager of Startup Quest, an entrepreneurship training program in nine Florida cities. He also served as Vice-Chair of the Alachua County Coalition for the Homeless and Hungry and as a member of the UF Strategic Development Plan Steering Committee. Bryan has been involved in various startups around Gainesville and now runs a software company that builds websites for advocacy and community-focused organizations.

He lives in the Oakview neighborhood with his wife Nina and their daughter. In his free time, he enjoys playing music, birding on Gainesville’s trails, and exploring the city by bike.
