Gainesville to unveil new GFR fire engine Published on August 21, 2026 Neighbors are invited to attend a dedication ceremony August 27 at GFR Station 4 for the city’s newest fire engine. It replaces the station’s current fire truck which has averaged more than 2,300 response calls annually over five years. Stormwater, solid waste charges moving to annual property tax bills Published on August 18, 2026 Property owners within Gainesville city limits will notice an important change when Truth in Millage (TRIM) notices arrive in mailboxes this month. Beginning Oct. 1, charges for city stormwater and residential solid waste services will appear as non-ad valorem assessments on annual property tax bills. Third public safety project breaks ground in Gainesville Published on July 31, 2026 For the third time in as many months, the City of Gainesville has broken ground on a public safety facility. The latest project is the Southwest Public Safety Center, a hurricane-hardened complex under construction near Archer Road and Interstate 75. The center will include a fire station with four engine bays, a dedicated Public Works warehouse and a community meeting room.
