Composting Workshop at McRorie Community Garden

Composting Workshop McRorie Community Garden

Join the City of Gainesville's Zero Waste Specialists at McRorie Community Garden (615 SE Fourth Ave.) for a hands-on composting workshop on Thursday, April 25 at 6 p.m.!

  • We'll discuss the importance of diverting material from the landfill;
  • we'll look at different stages of the controlled decomposition process known as composting;
  • we'll build our own "hot compost" pile;
  • and we'll discuss local resources and other potential diversion outlets for those who aren't ready to take the plunge.

Learn how to turn your kitchen scraps and yard waste into nutrient-rich soil for your garden. Our expert instructors will guide you through the process step by step. Whether you're a seasoned gardener or just starting out, this workshop is perfect for anyone looking to reduce waste and improve their soil health. Don't miss out on this opportunity to make a positive impact on the environment!

This event is free and open to the public, whether or not you have a plot at the community garden. We only request you sign up in advance. Keep an eye out for future composting workshops in community gardens around the city.
