Juneteenth National Holiday Celebration

Join us Friday, June 19 from 10 a.m. to noon at Bo Diddley Plaza (111 E. University Ave.) for the Juneteenth National Holiday Celebration! There will be performances by David Richardson Band and Soul Fire, 1000 Voices of Florida choir and Howard Bishop Middle School liturgical dancers. There will also be a speech by Mangnye Vivian Filer. This event is free and open to the public!

The City of Gainesville’s month-long “Journey to Juneteenth” celebration, from Florida Emancipation Day (May 20) through the widely-recognized Juneteenth holiday (June 19), honors the long and turbulent journey to freedom, while staying true to our history of Florida Emancipation on May 20.
