Memorial Day Commemoration

Join us this Memorial Day for a special program honoring Gold Star families and our fallen heroes at the Veterans Monument. Hosted by the City of Gainesville, the two-hour ceremony features guest speakers, military honors and a patriotic concert by the Gainesville Brass Quintet.

Volunteers Needed for Memorial Day Event

More than 1,100 veterans are buried at Evergreen Cemetery. Volunteers and community builders will place flags on the graves of each of them.

This is a great volunteering opportunity for families, coworkers, scouts, clubs and sports teams. Flags and maps will be provided. Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Contact Karen Pruss at prusske@gainesvillefl.gov to volunteer.

Volunteer flag placement will occur Saturday, May 24 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
