Reuse at the City of Gainesville’s Resource Recovery Center
The Resource Recovery Center (RRC) receives surplus items from various City agencies, and then stores those items until they can be:
Reused
- Reissued
- Repurposed
- Resold
Common items held at the RRC are:
- Office Supplies
- Desks & Hutches
- Tables & Chairs
- File Cabinets
- White & Cork Boards
- Book Shelves, Metal & Wood Storage Shelves
- Partitions
- Picture frames & Motivational Posters
The RRC is a great place for City agencies to shop for “free” items instead of using funds to purchase new items.
When there is an overflow of items or an excess of items that other Departments are unable to use then these items are sent to online auction sites.
- The primary auction site use by the City's Resource Recovery Center is govdeals.com. A wide range of items can be listed for sale at this auction site including clothing, phones, computers, cameras, lumber, poles, park equipment, and heavy machinery.

- The City's Resource Recover Center sometimes also list items for sale at weeksauction.com. This auction site can have vehicles, heavy equipment, and yard equipment for posted sale.

For Govdeals appointments to pick up items purchased: Monday - Thursday 8 AM to 4 PM
For City agency’s to drop-off and pick-up items: Wednesday 8 AM to Noon, or by appointment Monday – Thursday
