Resource Recovery Center

Overview

Reuse at the City of Gainesville’s Resource Recovery Center

The Resource Recovery Center (RRC) receives surplus items from various City agencies, and then stores those items until they can be:

  • furniture and desk at the loading ramp at the Resource Recovery Center Reused
  • Reissued
  • Repurposed
  • Resold

Common items held at the RRC are:

  • Office Supplies
  • Desks & Hutches
  • Tables & Chairs
  • File Cabinets
  • White & Cork Boards
  • Book Shelves, Metal & Wood Storage Shelves
  • Partitions
  • Picture frames & Motivational Posters

The RRC is a great place for City agencies to shop for “free” items instead of using funds to purchase new items.

Online Public Auctions

When there is an overflow of items or an excess of items that other Departments are unable to use then these items are sent to online auction sites.

  • The primary auction site use by the City's Resource Recovery Center is govdeals.com. A wide range of items can be listed for sale at this auction site including clothing, phones, computers, cameras, lumber, poles, park equipment, and heavy machinery.
