Cold Night Shelter Program available Nov 10-11

City of Gainesville officials anticipate severe weather conditions, including temperatures below 45 degrees Fahrenheit, during the evening hours of Monday, Nov. 10 and Tuesday, Nov 11. The anticipated temperatures will lead to the activation of the city's Cold Night Shelter (CNS) Program, and it is expected to remain in effect until overnight low temperatures rise above 45 F.

City Commission supports food bank as SNAP delays strain families

The Gainesville City Commission approved allocating $100,000 at its Nov. 6 meeting to Bread of the Mighty Food Bank, a regional food distribution hub serving Alachua County and surrounding areas. The support comes as the ongoing federal government shutdown has interrupted Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits for low-income families.

City Observes Veterans Day Holiday
