Cold Night Shelter Program available Feb. 22-24

City of Gainesville officials anticipate severe weather conditions, including temperatures below 45 degrees Fahrenheit, during the evening hours of Sunday, Feb. 22-Tuesday, Feb. 24. The anticipated temperatures will lead to the activation of the city's Cold Night Shelter (CNS) Program, and it is expected to remain in effect until overnight low temperatures rise above 45 F.

The City of Gainesville has hired Ralph Hilliard as its development services advocate, a position designed to assist residents, small business owners and developers with permitting, planning and zoning processes. He began in the new role Feb. 16.

Tom Petty Park sports new pickleball courts, seating, lighting

Eight new, pickleball courts at Tom Petty Park are now open to the public. Completed renovations at the municipal park also include new seating areas, a multiuse trail, new landscaping, shade structures and a stormwater pond. Visitors are advised work is still underway, and portions of the courts may close at times as crews complete final steps.
