The Streatery grand opening celebration set for Nov. 6

Friday’s celebration features live music, local food and family activities. The Streatery in downtown Gainesville is a newly reconstructed, pedestrian thoroughfare featuring brick pavers and historic bricks plus outdoor lighting, seating, landscaping, electrical outlets and other amenities to accommodate outdoor dining, art and music festivals, farmers markets and other community events.

Choice Neighborhood Initiative

In September 2023, the City of Gainesville and the Gainesville Housing Authority (GHA) were awarded a $500,000 Choice Neighborhoods Planning Grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). This grant will be used to create a plan to redevelop and revitalize neighborhoods in east Gainesville.
