City Welcomes New Director, Controller to Financial Services

The City of Gainesville welcomes Jennifer Crocker, CPA, CMA, MBA, as the new director of the Department of Financial Services, and Sue Wang, CPA, CPFO, as its new controller who will lead the department’s accounting division. Both began in their new roles June 13.

 

Crocker joins the department having served most recently as senior finance manager at the San Antonio River Authority, and as assistant vice president for financial services and comptroller at Texas A&M University-San Antonio. Wang most recently served as assistant comptroller for the City of Jacksonville and as finance manager/accountant for the Town of Normal, Illinois.

 

“Both Jen and Sue bring a wealth of experience and talent to these positions,” said Gainesville Interim City Manager Cynthia W. Curry. “They have a passion for public service, and I am delighted they’ve joined our team.”
The pair is committed to strengthening the integrity of the City’s financial system.

 

“We will be very transparent and work to build trust across the organization and within the community,” said Crocker. “Our dedicated staff supports each other in our work so we can best serve the citizens of Gainesville.”
Added Wang, “We’ll continue to refine our internal processes and procedures to enhance our financial reporting and ensure the integrity of our financial data. I’m excited to work with Jen and our team.”

 

Crocker is a graduate of Tarleton State University, and earned a Master of Business Administration from Texas A&M University-Central Texas. She is a certified public accountant and certified management accountant. Crocker is originally from Georgia and married with two adult children.

 

Wang earned master’s degrees in accounting and in agribusiness from Illinois State University. She is a certified public accountant and a certified public finance officer. Wang is married and enjoys reading, playing golf and running marathons.
