GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The City of Gainesville and community partners will host a children’s art workshop Wednesday as part of a national wellness initiative engaging communities through the healing power of the arts, known as One Nation One Project. The workshop is free and open to all ages and abilities, and art supplies will be provided.

When: 2-3:30 p.m. Wed., Oct. 19

Where: The Historic Thomas Center, 302 NE 6th Ave.

The National League of Cities One Nation One Project initiative supports the work of select cities, including Gainesville, in leveraging American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) resources to improve community conditions in the wake of the pandemic.

During the two-year initiative, city staff and community partners, with the help of local artists, educators, innovators and members of the community, will build programming to promote community safety and improve overall health, well-being, and resilience through arts and cultural projects.

Community partners include the University of Florida College of the Arts, Alachua County Public Schools, Alachua County Health Department, and the Partnership for Reimagining Gainesville.
