Construction fencing is scheduled to be installed Monday, Aug. 4, as site preparation begins for Alachua County’s new civil courthouse and parking garage in downtown Gainesville.

While parking at the courthouse is expected to be unavailable during construction, nearby downtown public parking is available as follows:

  • Parking in Lots 2, 3 and 4 is free 24/7.
  • Downtown parking is free before 10 a.m. and after 8 p.m. weekdays, as designated.
  • Downtown parking is free all day on weekends and city-observed holidays–except for spaces in the municipal parking garage at 105 SW 3rd St.

Outside of those hours, on-street parking in the core of downtown costs $0.25/hour or $0.50/hour, Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. as designated. All pay stations accept both coins and credit cards for parking in nearby downtown parking zones. Drivers also can pay for parking online, via the PassportParking® app or by calling 352-290-3700. Employees of downtown businesses may purchase a discounted monthly permit for the municipal garage at $20/mo.
