For the third year in a row, Gainesville has received a clean financial audit from external auditor Purvis, Gray & Company. The city’s Department of Financial Services completed the FY 2025 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report on schedule with no findings, marking another year of accurate, transparent financial reporting and continued progress in strengthening the city's financial foundation.

Transaction fees to be assessed for payments by debit, credit cards

Beginning Aug. 1, 2025, the City of Gainesville will begin passing along transaction fees of 2.45% (with a $1 minimum) to customers who pay online by credit or debit card when making certain payments.

GRU stops payment for services; Gainesville dips into contingency fund

As of Feb. 1, Gainesville Regional Utilities (GRU) stopped paying the City of Gainesville for services the utility received in fiscal year 2022. This leaves the city with a revenue shortfall of $1,447,252 in the middle of the current fiscal year and is a departure from the methodology that formed the foundation of this year’s balanced budget.
