Tom Petty Park sports new pickleball courts, seating, lighting Published on February 19, 2026 Eight new, pickleball courts at Tom Petty Park are now open to the public. Completed renovations at the municipal park also include new seating areas, a multiuse trail, new landscaping, shade structures and a stormwater pond. Visitors are advised work is still underway, and portions of the courts may close at times as crews complete final steps. Gainesville celebrates renovations to Duval Nature Park Published on June 20, 2025 City leaders and area neighbors gathered at Duval Nature Park during a ribbon-cutting ceremony June 20 to mark the completion of renovations that began in early March. Created around the sight of a stormwater management facility in 2010, the park features several new improvements while maintaining its original environmental purpose to keep local neighborhoods safe from flooding. Gainesville receives federal award to fund new EV charging stations Published on January 14, 2025 The funds will enable the city to build 47 new Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations throughout the area; the dual-port stations would be capable of charging as many as 94 EVs at the same time. In the coming months, the city will secure a private contractor for the project. Following design and site improvement work in 2026, installation of the charging stations should begin in 2027.
