Freezing temperatures and very dry conditions continue across north-central Florida and southeast Georgia. Low humidity (20–25%) and west-northwest winds (10–15 mph) create elevated fire danger this afternoon. Avoid outdoor burning and use caution with fireworks, as any fires could spread quickly.
Take a short walk on a shady trail leading to Colclough (pronounced Coke-lee) Pond; a great spot for bird watching and catching glimpses of local wildlife. You are welcome to enjoy bank fishing at the shoreline which is composed of rocky, clastic sediments. The upland mixed forest in this park provides an important buffer to protect the neighboring Audubon of Florida’s Coclough Pond Sanctuary. No parking; pedestrian access only.
