Oakview Community Center and Park
Oakview Community Center and Park, formerly named Kiwanis Girl Scout Park, is a welcoming green haven right in the heart of town. Towering oaks cast cool, dappled shade across lovely green spaces, colorful playground equipment, and winding walking paths; perfect for a peaceful stroll or an afternoon of exploration.
Families and friends can gather at the convenient pavilion, complete with a grill and picnic table—an ideal spot for celebrations, weekend lunches, or simply enjoying the outdoors together.
The park’s outdoor features include:
- a new modern playground
- a bridge over the creek
- ADA walking paths
- Florida native species planted along the creek bank and throughout the park
Beyond its natural beauty, Oakview thrives as a vibrant creative hub. Local artists use the community center as an inspiring workspace, filling the area with the energy of homegrown culture and imagination.
Oakview is more than a park; it’s a place where nature, community, and creativity come together.
Extensive renovations to the community center, originally built in 1955, were completed in 2020. The building was originally occupied by the Gainesville Girl Scout Council until 2014. The Kiwanis Club then gifted the building to the City of Gainesville in 2019.
