International Fraud Awareness Week

International Fraud Awareness Week, established in 2000 by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, is a global initiative held each November to raise awareness about fraud risks. During this weeklong campaign, the Office of the City Auditor encourages Gainesville’s community builders and neighbors to work together to detect and prevent fraud. Preventing fraud is critical because it can lead to financial loss for the ity and cause reputational harm that erodes public trust in local government.

Useful tips:

1. If you witness fraud, use the city’s fraud, waste, and abuse hotline to report it anonymously.
2. Review the City of Gainesville’s fraud risk management policy to understand procedures and responsibilities
