SW Downtown Parking Garage – Terms & Conditions

1. Permit Policies

  • Permits are electronic and issued to a specific vehicle license plate number.
  • All parking permits are non-refundable and not prorated.
  • A vehicle license plate number may be associated with only one permit type at a time.
  • Monthly permits are valid through the last day of the month in which they are purchased.
  • Quarterly permits are valid through the end of the third month from the month of purchase.
  • Permits are valid only for the paid/specified period. It is the permit holder’s responsibility to purchase or renew their permit before the expiration date.
  • Vehicles without a valid permit or payment are subject to citation enforcement.

2. Vehicle Information

  • Permit holders must enter accurate vehicle license plate information when applying:
    • Enter only letters and numbers (no spaces, dashes, or special characters).
    • The letter “O” is not used on license plates; use the number “0” instead.
    • Take care to distinguish between the number “1” and letters such as “I” or “L”.
  • If your permit is issued through a third party (e.g., an employer or leasing group), you must comply with both this policy and any additional agreements you have with that entity.

3. Vehicle Use

  • A maximum of two vehicles may be listed on a single permit. However, only one vehicle may be parked in the garage at a time under that permit.
    • If both vehicles are parked at the same time and only one has valid payment, the second vehicle is subject to citation.
  • The City of Gainesville is not responsible for any loss, damage, theft, or personal injury occurring in the SW Downtown Parking Garage.
  • Permit holders must ensure their vehicle can be accessed and moved within 24 hours of notice. Failure to do so may result in towing or relocation at the owner’s expense after a reasonable attempt to contact the permit holder.

4. Garage Access

  • Permit holders have 24/7 access, unless otherwise restricted by an agreement with a third party.
  • Yellow Permit holders may park up to 24 hours in designated first-floor spaces or in other non-reserved/designated spaces, as indicated by signage.
  • All other permit holders may park only in spaces that are not time-limited or reserved/designated for specific uses or entities, as marked by signage.

5. Unpaid Citations

  • Permits will not be issued or renewed for vehicles with outstanding parking citations.
  • The City of Gainesville may revoke permits at its discretion if citations remain unpaid.

6. Prohibited Activities

The following are strictly prohibited and may result in citation, permit revocation, or trespass notice:

  • Backed-in parking
  • Loitering or hosting gatherings
  • Alcohol, drug use, or smoking
  • Sleeping in vehicles or overnight stays
  • Storing inoperable vehicles or those with expired tags
  • Littering or improper waste disposal
  • Use of skateboards, roller skates/blades, bicycles, or scooters
  • Fighting, disruptive behavior, or verbal altercations
  • Playing loud music, revving engines, or excessive noise
  • Speeding or reckless driving
  • Washing or detailing vehicles using any liquids or chemicals
  • Public urination or other conduct deemed inappropriate by Parking Operations

By purchasing or using a parking permit, you acknowledge and agree to abide by all terms and conditions outlined above.
