Back-to-school is a time filled with new classrooms, new friends and new things to learn—and it also means the change of season isn’t far behind. As neighbors across the community prepare for cooler temperatures—eventually—and start thinking about autumn holidays and activities, the City of Gainesville is releasing its 2025 Fall/Winter Seasonal Guide from the Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs.

Designed to help neighbors plan their cooler weather activities with ease and excitement, the Seasonal Guide is packed with details about programs, camps, classes and events offered at Gainesville’s more than 80 parks, 3,200 acres of natural resources, six recreation centers, one recreation complex, three pools and numerous athletic fields. The guide’s fall/winter update includes information through the end of December and reflects Gainesville’s ongoing investment in accessible, enriching programming.

“Gainesville’s vitality is deeply connected to the health of its parks and the richness of its cultural experiences,” said Gainesville City Manager Cynthia W. Curry. “This guide reflects the breadth of our city’s offerings and our ongoing work to foster a sense of belonging for all who call Gainesville home.”

Every page is packed with detailed listings of after-school and out-of-school programs, youth and adult athletics, aquatic offerings, arts classes, cultural festivals and nature-based education programs. Highlights include the inaugural Great Pumpkin Bash at Bo Diddley Plaza and the Holiday Tree Lighting at the Historic Thomas Center.

“It’s exciting to offer so many ways for neighbors to get involved—whether they’re playing a sport, making art, or spending time together at one of our facilities,” said PRCA Director Roxy Gonzalez. “This season’s guide is full of opportunities to celebrate Gainesville’s creativity, energy and community spirit.”

Published three times a year, the PRCA Seasonal Guide ensures that residents and visitors always have access to the most up-to-date information about Gainesville’s recreational and cultural opportunities. The digital version is free and easy to use on any device— accessible online in formats suited for computer, tablet or phone—making it a convenient way to plan ahead. Printed copies are available at the Thomas Center and other city facilities upon request.
