Beginning Monday, Oct. 5, approximately 65% of Gainesville households will have a new curbside collection day.
Effective Oct. 1, 2026, the City of Gainesville is changing the way it bills for Solid Waste Services and Stormwater Management Utility.
The Public Works Department oversees the city's garbage, recycling and stormwater systems. This includes the planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance of streets, sidewalks and bike trails systems. We also provide mosquito control, street sweeping and floodplain management.
